I got a chance to mix it up a bit this summer. In the midst of walk throughs, mock-ups, rehearsals and weddings, I was making trips out to Medinah Country Club to prep for the 39th Ryder Cup.

So I will admit it, I am not too golf savvy. But I was a quick study when I got hired by a firm here in Chicago to plan the itinerary for their clients and colleagues who they were inviting to the event. Meetings at Medinah, ordering Ryder Cup swag, schedules, invitations and eblasts – and now the festivities have finally arrived!

Try to tune into the event if you can. It is only held every 4 years, and is a huge event for the Chicago land area. Today marks the start of the tournament, with practice rounds in the morning and a celebrity match in the afternoon. But opening ceremonies are held on Thursday and the closing ceremonies will be on Sunday night. They will also announce the location of the next Ryder cup during the closing ceremonies. If you are planning on going – make sure to wear red, white or blue to support team USA or wear blue or gold to support team Europe. This is what they are competing for…
It’s an exciting tournament if you are into golf!! As my husband said, “babe, it’s kind of a big deal” 😉
